If you haven’t visited Monastery of Christ in the Desert in Abiquiu, you’re missing out on a peaceful and gorgeous setting that is open to the public.
The Monastery welcomes visitors for any of their liturgical services, plus they have a gift shop offering items made by the monastery monks, as well as quality religious and art objects. If you’re not of a religious mindset, feel free to just wander the monastery grounds.
Overnight guests are also welcome for a minimum stay of two days and two nights with a suggested donation of $90 per night.
The Monastery is open weekdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Sundays visitors are welcome to attend Mass (holy Eucharist) at 9:15 a.m.
