The Televised/Webcasted 96th annual Burning of Zozobra

Zozobra, otherwise known as Old Man Gloom, is a giant marionette effigy burned to dispel the troubles and worries of Santa Feans from the previous year.  Residents are encouraged to project all their bad mojo into Zozobra and then watch him go up in flames!  This nearly 100-year tradition is a much beloved event by locals and tourists alike.

Unfortunately, as much as 2020 has given us all TONS of things we’d like to burn, the pandemic has made the burning of Zozobra a purely virtual event this year.  But fret not – you can still participate, burn your gloom, and watch this iconic Santa Fe tradition for free.

Tonight, Friday, September 4th at 8:00 pm MST.
