The life of a Curandera

A “curandera” is a female folk healer or medicine woman. Curanderismo is a holistic approach to wellness that has been used in the Americas, pre- and post-contact, for hundreds of years. Curanderas can use herbs or plants, prayer, spiritual cleansing, and healing ceremonies to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Hosted by the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, come hear Tonita Gonzales as she takes us through the life of curandera. Learn more about curanderismo: its traditional origins, beliefs, rituals and practices and how it can be used to address the physical, spiritual, psychological, and social needs of the people. Thursday, February 8th. 3:00-4:30 pm in the Upstairs Conference Room of the Udall Building, 725 Camino Lejo, Santa Fe, NM
