Santa Fe summers are known for the bevy of local festivals scheduled to take advantage of our wonderful weather, but perhaps none is more beloved than The International Folk Art Market being held on July 6th – 10th on Museum Hill.
Typically, more than 150 artists participate in the annual market, trekking from 60 different countries to the United States after applying for visas and making international shipping and travel arrangements. These artists represent tens of thousands additional members of cooperatives and groups, ultimately impacting the lives of 250,000+ family and community members.
Over the course of the market’s three days, 20,000 visitors attend the event, purchasing $3 million in folk art. Nearly $20,000 per booth on average is sent back to artists in their native countries, which helps sustain entire communities.
