Located in the Pojoaque Valley, Black Mesa is a dramatic sight that grabs your attention the first time you see it and becomes a landmark you seek out each time you drive Hwy 285/85 north of Santa Fe.
During the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, the people of the San Ildelfonso Pueblo evaded the Spanish Conquistadors for a time by climbing to the top of Black Mesa.
