RECIPE: Hatch Green Chile and Cheese Empanadas

Empanadas are turnovers made with a sweet or savory filling commonly found in Southern European, Latin American, and the Philippines cultures.  The word comes from the Spanish verb empanar, and translates as “enbreaded” –  wrapped or coated in bread.

This empanadas recipe filled with green chiles and a combination of cheeses sounds like the perfect comfort food for these colder days.  And one of the dough ingredients is a surprise: dark beer!  So you’ll not only have fun eating these yummy pillows of cheese and chile, but making them too.
