Adrienne DeGuere & Vanessa Rios
Tucked into a wooded landscape, this Northern New Mexico style home and guest house designed by Beverly Spears offers an array of delightful spaces for comfortable and stylish living. Designed to play dramatically with the geometry of its pitched metal roof, a high vaulted ceiling with triangular timber beams rises strikingly over the central living area. Beneath this lofty canopy, clerestory windows and French doors bring natural light from the western facing portal into the spaciously designed living, dining and kitchen. Built-in shelving covers the face of an entire living room wall and is also a feature of the kitchen and family rooms. The design of the upstairs master suite is dramatically impacted by sloped roof lines which translate in to a multi-angled ceiling, built-in banco, alcoves and dormer windows. The master bath, with soaking tub and separate shower, accesses a rooftop deck. The main level guest suite is far enough from the living areas to guarantee privacy but close enough to allow for easy access to all amenities. Just a few steps away from the main house is a casita constructed with tile floors, a high ceiling and casement windows and equipped with an efficiency kitchen, kiva fireplace and full bath. Tinted concrete floors throughout most of the main house and tile in the guest house. Leisure pursuits are amply accommodated on two covered portals facing west in the midst of an evergreen forest with nearby access to the Dale Ball Trail system.
