Who doesn’t love a good ghost story? La Llorona dates back to Spain and is prominent in Hispanic culture throughout the Americas. “The Weeping Woman” is a legendary tale of a woman whose children were lost, and now her ghost searches for them along riverbeds. At night she can be heard crying for her offspring, and legend warns that those who hear her wailing will be mired with misfortune.
She is much beloved among Santa Fe locals, with merchandise branded with “La Llorona is my homegirl” available in multiple shops.
