New Mexicans are known to be rabid devotees to all things chile. We all get pretty crazy in the fall when folks around town start roasting chile peppers. To us locals, the smell is intoxicating and heralds in the autumn season as much as any other harbinger, whether it be the turning colors of the aspen and cottonwood leaves or the purple wildflowers that pop up along the roads only in the fall.
