It’s no secret that many of us are a little bit “woo-woo” in Santa Fe. Go into any Santa Fe home and you’re likely to spot a smudge stick lying around.
A smudge stick is a bundle of dried herbs, usually bound with string. Plants that are often used include sage and cedar, but people will sometimes mix in rosemary, lavender, or flowers and the bundles themselves can be quite beautiful and decorative. The herbs were traditionally burned as part of a ritual or ceremony, but they can also be burned just to “clear the energy” in a room.
Whether you believe in the power of smudging or not, one thing is for certain: burning a smudge stick sure makes a room smells good!
