HIKE: Diablo Canyon

Looking for an easy hike with little elevation change and stunning scenery? Look no further than Diablo Canyon!

Located southwest of town, you may recognize this location from the silver screen – Diablo Canyon has been used as a set in many films over the years going all the way back to the 30s, including 3:10 to Yuma and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

The hike starts in the canyon of sheer, dramatic rock faces and goes all the way to the Rio Grande River for an in-and-out distance of 5.9 miles.

Diablo Canyon is a perfect cold weather hike because its lack of shade makes it not an ideal warmer weather expedition, but don’t forget to take sunscreen and water regardless of which season you visit.
