Cottonwood trees and the snows of June

CottonwoodThere are certain natural happenings that occur seasonally in Santa Fe that help us mark the seasons, whether it’s the yellow budding of the chamisa shrubs in the fall or the ubiquitous winds of the spring.

One thing that marks summer for us is the cottonwood trees shedding their white, fluffy seed pods all across town. We find it charming, but some might find it annoying, while others may be allergic to the white “snows of June.”
