Well, here’s some good news: This spring, the state of New Mexico will be offering motorists a chance to help our pollinators (like butterflys and bees) by purchasing a special license plate. Proceeds will fund pollinator-protection activities by the New Mexico Department of Transportation, which will include improving the habitat of bees and other pollinators by seeding roadsides with native plants and reducing the mowing and spraying of herbicides along roadways.
The ‘PROTECT POLLINATORS’ license plate features artwork by Jazlyn Smith, a sixth grade student at Albuquerque Sign Language Academy.
